Sample Stories

See how FableJar creates stories that actually teach

These are sample stories created by FableJar. They show you exactly what your child would hear at bedtime — and why stories teach children things instructions alone never will. A child who is told "do not talk to strangers" forgets the rule in the moment. A child who has lived that moment in a story five times already knows what to do.

Safety Series — 5 Nights

Safe and Smart: Recognising Tricky Situations

Created for Sophie, age 7Loves horses, painting, and swimming

You tell your child "never go with someone you do not know." They nod. But would they actually know what to do in the moment? This series puts Sophie in five situations where something does not feel quite right — and she makes the smart choice every time. She is never in danger in these stories. She is always the hero who trusted her instincts, said no, and found a safe adult.

A friendly person at the park says "I have puppies in my car, do you want to see them?" Sophie feels excited for a second — puppies! But then she remembers the rule. She says "No thank you" and walks straight to where her mum is sitting.

Challenge Series — 5 Nights

Screen Time: Won't Put the iPad Down

Created for Arjun, age 6Loves dinosaurs, building things, and being outside

Every parent knows this battle. You say "time's up." They melt down. Tears. Screaming. Bargaining. Every single time. This series takes Arjun through five versions of that moment — from noticing a bird outside the window to handling the frustration of being told to stop. By the fifth night, putting the iPad down does not feel like losing something. It feels like choosing something better.

Arjun is watching a video when something catches his eye through the window — a bird building a nest. He does not want to put the iPad down. But he pauses the video, walks to the window, and discovers the bird is more interesting than anything on the screen.

Why five stories instead of one?

Think about how children learn anything. You do not teach a child to swim with one lesson. You do not teach them to ride a bike with one try. The same is true for emotional challenges and safety skills. One story introduces the idea. Five stories — each approaching the same challenge from a different angle, told at bedtime when the brain is most receptive — turn a lesson into instinct. The first story makes the situation familiar. The second builds on it. By the fifth night, the hard thing does not feel so hard anymore. Because your child has already been there. Five times. In their head. And familiar things do not feel scary.

Your child has a challenge.
FableJar has a series for it.

Pick the challenge. Pick the safety skill. FableJar creates five stories — one per night, same lesson, different scenario — until the right response becomes second nature.
