Every story, illustration, and interaction is designed with rigorous safety standards built specifically for children.
Several layers of protection work together to keep every story age-appropriate, positive, and enriching.
Illustrations, and the Story Bible and evaluation steps, go straight to Google Gemini with its safety filters at the strictest setting (BLOCK_LOW_AND_ABOVE) across every harm category — harassment, hate speech, sexually explicit, and dangerous content. Story text is sometimes written by a different model that does not accept those settings. So every story, whichever model wrote it, also goes through our keyword blocklist and reading level checks and is scored by a separate AI reviewer for age-appropriateness — and you can read it before your child does.
Every story is checked against a custom blocklist of age-inappropriate words and concepts, whichever model wrote it. It catches things that might slip past a model's own safety checks.
Every story is validated against Flesch-Kincaid reading level standards to ensure vocabulary and complexity match your child's age tier.
The companies that build these models train child-safety protections into them, and we have no way to switch those off. They sit underneath the checks above as an extra net, not as a replacement for them.
You stay in control of your child's experience at every step.
Every story is available for parent review before your child sees it. You decide what's appropriate for your family.
Children are profiles under your parent account — they never have their own login. You authenticate, then select the child profile.
Review, modify, or delete all child data at any time from your dashboard. Request complete data deletion and we'll process it within 30 days.
We go above and beyond to protect your family's data.
We fully comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Verifiable parental consent is required before any child data is collected.
Your child's first name and profile details reach the AI services that write and illustrate the story — that is what makes them the hero of it. We write our prompts with a placeholder instead of the name, but the child's Story Bible carries the real name back into them, so it does reach those services; our Privacy Policy names every company that receives it.
We use Google Analytics with privacy-preserving settings, and it is blocked entirely on every signed-in page where child data appears. We never sell data and never build advertising profiles.
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use Supabase with row-level security, ensuring users can only access their own family's data.
Stories are carefully tailored to each age group with dedicated system prompts, vocabulary limits, and theme guidelines.
